Future Problem Solvers: Teaching How to Think, Not What to Think - Grade 4

Youth / Enrichment -
Fall 2024

Students will research real world challenges, and use their creative thinking skills to formulate solutions to solve problems related to the future scene in the framework of a 6 step process. Students will take then their best solution and develop it into an action plan and present it as a team skit. The topics for this year are “food security” and "rising sea levels" for the practice problems, “agriculture industry” for the regional competition, and “nanotechnology” for the state competition. Regional competition will take place virtually in early Feb, with state competition taking place virtually end of March. There will also be an on-site presentation as well in April in St. Cloud, MN. Students must provide their own transportation. Students are not required to participate in the regional/state competitions, but are encouraged to do so.
