  • School Age Care

    Fun & Friends is a child care program for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. It has served the students of Brainerd Public Schools for over 30 years with age-appropriate, fun, recreational activities. Care is provided before school, after school, on non-school days, and over the summer. Sites include Nisswa Elementary, Baxter Elementary, Riverside Elementary, and Harrison Elementary (also servicing Garfield and Lowell). Summer registration has ended and all sites are full. SUMMER 2024: Locations: Fun & Friends will be open at the following locations: Riverside Elementary Baxter Elementary Nisswa Elementary Families can choose any site for summer programming regardless of where their child attends school. Dates & Hours: Wednesday, June 5- Friday, August 23. Monday-Friday, 6:30am-6:00pm. Rates: $40/day or $45/day for a drop in, 3 days/week minimum Registration: Summer registration will open in three different phases starting at the end of February. Please note that you can sign up any time during your registration window. See the table below. Current families: all past due invoices must be paid in full before a registration is processed. If it is not paid in full by March 5, your registration will be waitlisted. Families that were on the 23-24 waitlist prior to December 31, 2023. March 12 8:00am-8:00pm PreK+ Registration All current PreK+ families who have a student going into kindergarten can register on this date. Fun & Friends has 6 spots reserved at each location for PreK+ students. All PreK+ enrollments will be placed in a lottery to fill those spaces. March 13 - March 19 Opens at 9:00 AM Public Registration: Open to everyone to complete enrollment. All public enrollments will be placed in a lottery. The number of spaces will be based on staffing availability.Families will be notified of their status on March 25. *Families must sign up during the correct stage for their application to be considered.   • Soccer - Morning Adult & Youth

    Join us for morning indoor pickup soccer! We provide equipment, just bring suitable indoor shoes. We play from 6-7am and make teams from those that show up each morning. If school is closed due to weather, we will not meet. Open to all abilities.You may register and join us at any time during the season.

    Specialty Classes are child alone classes that provide children opportunities to explore learning in a classroom setting around engaging topics. Sign up for one or all of them to keep your child engaged in learning and exploring with friends. Please use age on class start date to determine enrollment.
  • Spring Roll Symphony: Crafting Crispy & Fresh Spring Roll Delights

    Join Tess as she walks you through the process of creating two types of spring rolls bursting with a symphony of flavors, bold and bright enough to wake up any and all taste buds. Choice of meat (chicken or pork) & veggies will fill the CRISPY spring rolls, and fresh veggies and precooked protein of choice will fill the FRESH spring rolls. Two types of wrappers will be used. Learn techniques to create fillings, and how to wrap, roll and cook these delightful packets of bright deliciousness! Participants will receive an ingredient list and station prep packet in a PDF format one week before class to allow time for shopping and prep. NOTE: One registration fee for this on-line virtual interactive class can include immediate family members living full-time in the same home ONLY. If children are participating, adult supervision is required.

  • Time Together Classes

    Time Together Classes provide weekly time for parents/guardians and their children birth-5 years old. Parent Education time is included in all of our Time Together classes with a Parent Educator (parents separate during parent time once the child is two or older).
  • Trusts and Generational Estate Planning: Why You Can't Always Trust Your Trust

    The trust is a very popular component and tool to be used in our estate planning. However, there is a variety of vastly different trust options to be used and the question arises: "Am I using the right trust for my needs and goals?" Often used trusts include: Living Trusts, Testamentary Trusts and Irrevocable Trusts. Each serves a different purpose; each has a different result. One common problem that often needs addressing is the over-utilization of the Living Trust for goals or problems that it does not resolve. For example, "Does my living trust protect my assets against Medicaid and the nursing home? The answer is probably not. The Irrevocable Trust and the Testamentary Trust each have their strengths and weaknesses as well. We will clearly define the strengths and weaknesses of these different types of trusts and when to use them.

    ECFE weekly time together classes for parents and their infant aged children. Sign up for as many sessions as you wish. CLASS OVERVIEW: Meet other parents with young babies! This will be a time to connect and play. A great option for parents on maternity/paternity leave. Bring a blanket to lay your baby on if needed. Children attend with a parent or guardian.     Interested in learning how to identify and forage wild mushrooms? Join mushroom identification expert, Ariel Bonkoski for a class on how to identify your wild mushroom finds. You will also learn how to safely forage, learn about some common edible mushrooms in our area, species to know and how to continue learning beyond the classroom.

    Youth develop life-long interests, skills and knowledge through sports, performing and visual arts, academics, special interest clubs, outdoor educational experiences and many more programs. Youth develop and enhance their own creative and physical capacities while sharing individual talents, skills, knowledge and character with others.
