Wrestling Grades K-4
Please have your wrestler(s) dressed in shorts or sweatpants and a t-shirt. No jewelry should be worn during practice. There is no equipment necessary for practice. Wrestling singlets will be available for checkout for use in tournament competition. Parents are encouraged to participate with coaching. Registration fee includes t-shirt and free wrestler entry for the Brainerd Youth Wrestling Tournament on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Forestview Middle School..Grade KG (aged 5-6); Meets Mondays & Tuesdays, Jan 9-Feb 7, 6-7:30pm, at BHS Wrestling Room - $30Grades 1-4 Beginners Meets Mondays & Tuesdays, Dec 5-Feb 7, 6-7:30pm, at BHS Wrestling Room - $50Grades 1-4 Advanced Meets Mondays & Tuesdays, Dec 5-March 28, 6-7:30pm, at BHS Wrestling Room - $65Kindergarten (Ages 5 & 6): Basic wrestling skills and moves will be taught in a fun environment! Wrestlers will do a variety of tumbling and games to help master basic body control needed for wrestling. Wrestlers will be separated into age/ability groups. There will be a parent meeting on January 9, 2023. Class will not meet 1/16.Grades 1-4 Beginners: Entry level wrestling will introduce basic skills, stance motion, and positioning. Techniques such as penetration step, single leg and double leg takedown, snap-spin, front-head position, sprawl defense, half-nelson, sit-out, and standup will be taught. Entry level tumbling skills for basic body control will be taught along with games and drills to prepare for advanced wrestling. There will be a parent meeting on December 5, 2022. Class will not meet 12/26, 27 & 1/16.Grades 1-4 Advanced: Participants must have mastered the beginner level and receive a congratulations and approval slip from coaching staff to participate. Wrestlers will be introduced to advanced stance and motion drills, and advanced control ties and setups. They will work on single leg, double leg, hi c, low single, front headlock takedown, advanced defensive techniques from sprawl position, Granby roll, switch, stand-up (from bottom position), half nelson, arm bar, cross face cradle, and inside cradle (from the top position). Intermediate tumbling for body control will be taught along with games and drills. This group will have the opportunity to participate on the Brainerd Youth Traveling Team. There will be a parent meeting on December 5, 2022. Class will not meet 12/26, 27, 1/16, 2/20, 3/13 & 14.

Fun & Friends is a child care program for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Please do not send your child to Fun & Friends until your contract and schedule has been approved.
We have a variety of programs for preschoolers aged 2 1/2 to 5 years at 3 locations: the Warrior Early Learning Center and Nisswa Elementary School.
Youth develop life-long interests, skills and knowledge through sports, performing and visual arts, academics, special interest clubs, outdoor educational experiences and many more programs.
Child Only classes provide children opportunities to explore learning in an ECFE classroom setting independently.
ECFE offers many special events throughout the year for families with birth-5 yr olds.
Time Together Classes provide weekly time for parents/guardians and their children birth-5 years old.
